Film Openings
Film 1- Rise
The first film is about a very skilled soccer player who is practicing in the field. As he is practicing someone beings watching him through the fence. Once he is finished playing he begins walking to his car when he makes eye contact with the teenager who was watching him. He is leaned up against his car and they both give intense stares back and forth.
Film 2- Offline
The film starts off w a person looking at a girls instagram. The person clicked on the girls location of her house and then it flashes forward to the girl being locked up in a cage. At the same time another girl is enjoying herself around town constantly checking social media.
Film 3- Dear Lover
This film was about an 18 year old daughter who ran away from home because her mom was very judgmental, especially when she found out she had a girlfriend. The girl wrote letters to her girlfriend every week and then one day something changed.
Film 4- Dare to Thrill
The film starts off with a bunch of friends walking into a parking garage with very upbeat music. They steal a key and find out its for a dodge sports car which they are very excited about. They speed, blow through stop signs, and fly over speed bumps when driving around town. Eventually they stop and open the trunk. Something extremely crazy was in the trunk because they were shocked when they opened it.
Film 5- Always Watching
The film is about a teenage boy who was so obsessed with his friends life that he wanted everything he had. It is conveyed through the back and forth dialogue between the teenager and a therapist asking him about the friend who he is obsessed with, He can’t stop stalking him and even uses violence and tied him up in order to try and be him.
Film 6- The Blue Boar
The film opening sets the scene of a young girl in old english clothing being reprimanded by her mother for drawing because it is a sin. They seem to be very religious and live strict lives. The young girl then wonders around the forest and sings about how she can feel change inside her.
Film 7- White Coat
Very creepy background music and various sounds played throughout the film opening. A scientist working in a lab seemed to be up to no good as he had one of his "patients" tied up in rope. He was doing experiments and had a mysterious look on his face.
8- Stalker
This film did a good job of including appropriate background music in each scene, making it a lot scarier. The beginning starts off with the young girl waking up and brushing her hair as she suddenly hears someone take pictures of her through her window. Then it shows the girl sitting in the hallway where she finds a creepy note in her pencil pouch, along with the music starting to get more alarming. She rushes to her car and just as she's about to leave she sees the stalker against her window and screams.
Film 9- Nostalgia
This film has background music throughout that is very fitting to the introspective mood the main character gives off. The opening goes through a reflection of the old women's life. She observes paintings, photographs, and other items reminding her of her whole life. At the end it switches from her to a young girl looking in the same direction, wearing the same clothing.
Film 10- Lost and Found
This film opening has multiple different characters and settings featured. It starts off with an animation of two people dancing and then shows a boy drawing in a sketch book outside the people dancing. He mentions how he feels incomplete as he walks past a girl and slightly bumped into her. She then went into her job and checked her computer for results, while getting told she needs to start working.
Summary
These brainstorming sessions helped me realize all of the main things we need to incorporate into our film. A big thing that automatically made the films better was good background music, voice overs, and multiple sounds. Another important thing we should include is fitting costumes, good lighting, and a good setting. Some of the films jumped around with those characteristics making it harder to follow than others. Although a lot of the films were horror, and thats what we're doing, I think it will add as an inspiration to do something very unique. Watching these films helped our group solidify that horror was our main interest.
